Seth Thomas IXth USAAF sector clock

Picture
Replica Seth Thomas WWII U.S. Army Air Corp Sector Clock
with faux Key hole, screws and adjustment wheel.
This clock measures almost 9" in diameter and can be displayed outside.
The clock face is designed to have an 'old' look and is purposely printed with 'rust' marks and sympathetic ageing.

Some consider Seth Thomas to have made the best clocks of the era in the U.S. and this replica by Top of the Clocks pays tribute to Seth Thomas.
The US Army Air Force operated jointly with the RAF in the Allied Tactical Air Force from D-day onwards and used the sector method of plotting aircraft movements that was devised by the RAF. The American sector clock is similar in design to a US Navy bulkhead clock made by Seth Thomas. However, our clock has a black metal surround (instead of the traditional Bakelite), with a face that has the same five-minute segments of an RAF sector clock. It was used in tracking the movements of enemy aircraft from information gathered from observers in the field and from mobile radars. The clock looks very different from a RAF sector clock but using the same sequence of colours (red, yellow and blue) used in the five-minute segments of each quarter of an hour.
Nice 'aged' effect face.
